There’s been quite a few openings, expansions and acquisitions in the past several months. Here’s a quick rundown of just some of them:

●  Little Leaf Farms opened their third greenhouse at the McAdoo, Pennsylvania, production site and broke ground on a fourth. That’s slated to open in Fall 2025. Adding an additional 20 acres to their PA campus, these mark the company’s sixth and seventh greenhouses when combined with those in Devens, Massachusetts.

● Kingsville, Ontario-based Mucci Farms announced in November its acquisition of Greenhill Produce, a state-of-the-art greenhouse facility totaling nearly 150 acres in Kent Bridge, Ontario. Founded in 2001 on just 6 acres at the time, the Geertsema family built their sweet bell pepper production to more than 150 acres spanning multiple locations. As Mucci Farms is now part of the Cox Farms company, the acquisition helps make Cox Farms the largest owner of greenhouse acreage in North America, according to the announcement.

● BrightFarms, also one of Cox Farms’ brands, opened its newest location in Lorena, Texas, in early December. Planned to be upwards of 34 acres upon completion, it’s one of three regional hubs the company is opening, along with Illinois and Georgia.

“The Lorena greenhouse … is designed with cutting-edge cooling technology, such as KUBO’s Ultra-Clima system, enabling BrightFarms to create and sustain optimal growing conditions year-round, regardless of the Texas heat or external climate conditions,” the company said in the announcement.
