Free Webapp for Growers

It’s been around for a number of years now, but the University of Florida IFAS (UF/IFAS) Extension and FreshLearn have released a major update to its free BackPocketGrower.org website application. The site, designed by Paul Fisher and Maria Kinslow at UF/IFAS and Bruce MacKay from FreshLearn features easy-to-access English and Spanish grower calculator tools, training videos and fact sheets on a wide range of production topics.

The Tools section includes calculators for fertilizer and agrichemical dilutions, container substrates, light levels, vapor pressure deficit (VPD), crop budgets and water quality. The Training section links to videos and fact sheets on production topics such as handling tissue culture transplants.

You can install it as an application on your mobile device and when you tap the icon it will open in a browser window. Visit the website BackPocketGrower.org to browse the tools and training.
